China expands visa-free entry for Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam

China expands visa-free entry schemes for ordinary passport holders from Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam.

From 20 August 2026, ordinary passport holders from Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam benefit from two expanded visa-free entry schemes. The 240-Hour Visa-free Transit Policy permits stays up to 240 hours via 65 designated ports for travellers with confirmed onward tickets to a third country. Additionally, the Hainan 30-Day Visa-free Entry Policy allows visits of up to 30 days within Hainan Province for arrivals via international ports. These schemes cover short-term activities such as tourism, business visits, and family reunions. Employment, formal study, or journalistic work remain excluded and require a valid advance visa.
