Dubai Airport Introduces Mobile Passport Control for Faster Processing

Dubai's General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs launched 'Click and Travel' on 7 September 2026. This new mobile system allows immigration officers to process entry and departure formalities using portable devices equipped with biometric verification. The process, taking approximately 12 to 15 seconds, enables checks to occur anywhere within airport terminals, improving staff allocation and reducing bottlenecks. During a pilot phase from May to August 2026, over 31,000 procedures were successfully completed using the new technology. Currently, the service applies to all travellers departing Dubai, but only UAE citizens and residents upon arrival. The Directorate plans gradual expansion to include international visitors arriving in Dubai.
