ETIAS Scams Target EU Travellers Amid Entry/Exit System Launch Confusion
Travellers are warned about ETIAS scams targeting non-EU citizens amid EU entry system confusion.
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is not mandatory and the launch date postponed until further notice. Scammers are creating fake websites purporting to offer ETIAS applications, capitalising on traveller misunderstanding. This electronic travel authorisation will eventually be required for visa-exempt non-EU nationals from 60 countries, including the UK, Australia, the US, and Canada, for short stays in the Schengen Area.
Travellers should note that the only legitimate application portal will be the official EU website once ETIAS is live. If you think that you have been affected by abusive practices by a commercial intermediary who applied for an ETIAS travel authorisation on your behalf, you will be able to report it on EU's official site: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/your-rights/report-abuse
