EU ETIAS Travel Authorisation Launch Likely Delayed Until 2027

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) was initially scheduled for launch in autumn 2026. Official EU website information has been updated, removing the previous launch quarter and stating a new date will be announced. This delay, possibly until 2027, follows implementation difficulties with the Entry/Exit System (EES), to which ETIAS is closely linked. The authorisation will cost €20 for most travellers, though those under 18 and over 70 will be exempt from fees. It will affect visa-free nationals such as Britons, Americans, Canadians, Australians, and Japanese visiting the Schengen area.
