Europe's Entry/Exit System Is Now Fully in Place
The European Union's Entry/Exit System is now fully in place, changing what happens at Schengen external borders.
The Entry/Exit System registers non-EU travellers biometrically when they cross a Schengen external border, replacing manual passport stamping with a database record of entries and exits.
It is now fully in place, having been introduced progressively across member states.
This is the largest single change to European border processing in years, and it runs separately from ETIAS. The Commission's guidance describes what applies where.
