India Ends Boarding Pass Stamping for Departing International Travellers

The Bureau of Immigration announced that international travellers will experience quicker clearance. This new policy, effective from 1 September, means physical and electronic boarding passes will no longer receive an immigration stamp upon departure. Previously, immigration officers manually stamped physical boarding passes for all departing international passengers. The change aims to reduce paper usage and streamline the departure process at India's 36 international airports. Travellers enrolled in the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme can also utilise e-passes at automated e-gates. The decision follows feedback highlighting the inconvenience caused by the mandatory physical stamping requirement.
