Kenya Expands Visa-Free Entry, Implements eTA for Many Nationalities from 2026

Kenya has replaced its traditional visa system with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) framework and introduced broad exemptions, effective 2026. Most African nationals, excluding Libya and Somalia, can now enter Kenya visa-free for up to 180 days, depending on their origin. Additionally, 26 non-African countries, predominantly from the Caribbean and Pacific regions, are granted visa-free access for stays of up to 90 days. Other foreign nationals, including those from the United States and United Kingdom, must apply for a single-entry eTA online before travel. Transit passengers, crew members, and certain residents are also exempt from the eTA requirement.
