Multiple Asian Nations Update Visa Rules, Digital Entry, and Fees
Several Asian countries are updating visa policies, introducing digital entry systems, and adjusting fees for travellers.
India is exploring a simplified tourist visa system, including a visa on arrival for some nationalities and multiple entries for its 30-day e-Tourist Visa. The United Arab Emirates is expanding its visa-on-arrival programme to include travellers from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa, contingent on specific residence permits. Japan will significantly raise visa issuance fees from 1 July 2026, with single-entry visas increasing to 15,000 yen and multiple-entry visas to 30,000 yen. Vietnam and India are both implementing mandatory pre-arrival health declarations and information systems for international passengers. Taiwan has also eased its digital arrival card process, allowing completion up to seven days prior to entry.
