Suriname Reintroduces Visa Requirement for Mexican and Bolivian Travellers

Suriname will require visas for Mexican and Bolivian passport holders from 1 October 2026 due to migration concerns.

Suriname is reintroducing visa requirements for nationals of Mexico and Bolivia who hold ordinary passports. This change becomes effective on 1 October 2026, requiring affected travellers to obtain a visa prior to their departure for Suriname. Visa application information is available through Suriname's diplomatic and consular missions or its VFS Global e-visa portal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation stated the measure is linked to recent migration developments. Holders of valid diplomatic or service passports are exempt from this new requirement. While the measure is temporary, no specific end date has been provided, with the ministry planning to monitor and periodically evaluate the situation. Airlines and travel agencies are advised to consider the amended requirements when planning trips to Suriname.
