Syria's eVisa Portal Shows 'Coming Soon' After Previous Launch
Syria's eVisa portal is currently unavailable, displaying a 'Coming Soon' message, creating confusion for travellers.
Syria previously launched an electronic visa service on 1 May 2024, allowing Arab and foreign nationals to apply directly through the evisa.sy portal. This system initially processed thousands of applications within weeks of its rollout. However, following a change in government in December 2024, the portal no longer accepts applications.
The website now displays only an "EVisa Coming Soon" message, despite some Syrian embassies and foreign governments continuing to direct travellers to the online service. Other official information suggests visas are still obtained through consular missions or at border entry points. The Syrian Ministry of Tourism stated in January 2026 that a new electronic visa system is currently under development to facilitate tourist entry.
