Turkmenistan Introduces eVisa Portal, Streamlining Entry for Tourists

Turkmenistan officially launched its eVisa portal, detailing application requirements for tourist, business, and humanitarian visas.

Turkmenistan's electronic visa system launched on October 1, 2026, with its official portal going live the following day. The new online platform enables travellers to submit applications, upload documents, pay fees, and monitor their application status. It provides three eVisa categories: e-TU for tourism, e-BS for business trips up to 30 days, and e-HM for humanitarian purposes.

A significant change for tourists is the removal of the mandatory invitation letter requirement for the e-TU tourist eVisa. For this category, a travel itinerary, confirmed hotel reservations, and medical insurance are now listed as optional documents. However, business e-Visas still necessitate an invitation from a Turkmen company, and humanitarian e-Visas require an official letter from a relevant organisation.

Processing options range from Regular (7 business days) to Super Urgent (24 hours). Application fees are calculated online during the process and are payable in US dollars. While the portal provides comprehensive information, new user registration functionality was not yet visible as of October 2.
